Grosset Gaia 2024
Forty-five years later, we’re more confident than ever in our wines, and more curious than ever about our vineyards. The more we discover about the connections between soil, season, and vine, the more we realize how much we still don’t know. And that’s exactly where we want to be—honoring our heritage while embracing the endless possibility of learning from our place.
Jeffrey named the vineyard ‘Gaia’ after scientist James Lovelock’s theory that earth is a single living organism of immense complexity, dependent on full species diversity to remain balanced and restore itself. This ecological philosophy, absorbed from Lovelock’s work, has profoundly influenced Jeffrey’s approach to all subsequent plantings.
Our thirty-fifth release of this blend from the Grosset Gaia Vineyard — now forty years old. 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, grown biodynamically, hand harvested, fermented with indigenous yeast and aged in French oak barriques with no fining.
Produced from 100% estate grown cabernet sauvignon (84%) and cabernet franc (16%)
Matured exclusively in French oak barriques (45% new) for 18 months.
Ageing potential: 25 years
Elegant and precise — blackcurrant, dark cherry and bramble lead a compact, concentrated palate. Fine-grain tannins glide seamlessly through layers of black fruits, embodying the vibrancy, intensity and balance of this geologically homogenous site
