The History of Arnot-Roberts

Arnot-Roberts was founded in Healdsburg in 2001 by childhood friends Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts. Starting with just one barrel of wine made in their basement, the winery embarked on a humble journey, gradually expanding by sourcing grapes from some of the most remarkable vineyards in California. Both Duncan and Nathan grew up in Napa Valley, deeply immersed in the vineyards and winemaking culture of the early 1980s. Although their families were not directly involved in winemaking, they were deeply connected to the community, with family members working as chefs, coopers, teachers, and attorneys in the budding wine region. After college, Nathan pursued his passion as a cooper of oak wine barrels alongside his father, while Duncan honed his winemaking skills in renowned wineries across Napa and Sonoma counties.

The Significance of Arnot-Roberts

The driving force behind Arnot-Roberts is the production of distinctive, site-driven wines that showcase the unique terroirs where the grapes are grown. Duncan and Nathan's pursuit of this goal has led them to explore vineyards throughout Northern California, including exceptional sites in Napa Valley, Sonoma Coast, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Rita Hills, Clearlake, and Sierra Foothills. Single-vineyard wines form the heart of their production, alongside a selection of appellation bottlings that eloquently express their individual origins. Whether old and dry-farmed or newer plantings, every vineyard is tended to by dedicated and conscientious growers, as their passion and care play a crucial role in Arnot-Roberts' fundamental objective of creating the most genuine and expressive wines possible.

Caitlin Quinn, Assistant Winemaker

Caitlin Quinn joined Arnot-Roberts as Assistant Winemaker in 2015. Raised in San Luis Obispo wine country, Caitlin boasts over 15 years of winemaking experience in California and abroad. Initially drawn to the winery by her love for Syrah, Caitlin is thrilled to work with Arnot-Roberts' exceptional range of wines and the unique vineyard sites scattered throughout California.
