The Legacy of Paolo Scavino Wines

Paolo Scavino wines hold a significant place in the rich history of the Barolo region. Established back in 1921 by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo in the charming town of Castiglione Falletto, the winery's roots lie deep in the traditions and passion for winemaking that runs in the family.

A Family Heritage

Guiding the path of the Scavino Estate today is Enrico Scavino, along with his daughters Enrica and Elisa, representing the fourth generation of the family. Enrico's journey began at the tender age of 10 when he joined the winery full-time in 1951. A young and talented winemaker, he inherited an unwavering devotion to the land that shaped him. With over 60 years of experience, his unwavering focus has been on investing in the magnificent cru vineyards of Nebbiolo, showcasing the unique character of each terroir.

A Commitment to Terroir

At the heart of Paolo Scavino wines lies a deep love and respect for their territory. The Scavino family holds steadfast to the pursuit of purity of expression, complexity, and elegance in crafting their wines, utilizing three exceptional local grape varieties: Dolcetto, Barbera, and Nebbiolo.

These values and a rich winemaking culture have been cherished and preserved over time, remaining unwavering in their pursuit of excellence.

Barolo's Terroir and Vineyards

Paolo Scavino proudly owns and cultivates 30 hectares of vineyards exclusively within the renowned Barolo area. Their meticulous attention to detail extends to 20 historical Barolo crus, spanning the picturesque locations of Castiglione Falletto, Barolo, La Morra, Novello, Serralunga d'Alba, Verduno, Roddi, and Monforte d'Alba.

A Vineyard-Centric Approach

Setting themselves apart from the beginning, the Scavino family has earned distinction through their unwavering commitment to vineyard care and their passion for terroir. Their core belief is in the supremacy of viticulture over oenology, focusing on nurturing and tending to the vines to yield ripe and healthy grapes. When it comes to winemaking, the approach is one of minimal intervention, allowing the natural diversities and terroir to shine through.
