Discover the Legacy of Tenute Silvio Nardi

The story of Tenute Silvio Nardi is woven into the picturesque slopes of Montalcino, where their vineyards flourish. Nestled on the east and west sides of this enchanting region, the estates span a predominantly hilly terrain, ranging from 140 meters to 480 meters above sea level.

Three Estates, One Tradition

Within the vineyard area, 36 vineyards are meticulously tended across three distinct estates, each located in a key area of Montalcino. At the heart of the company lies Casale del Bosco, situated in the west. To the east, we find the Manachiara and Colombaiolo estates, embracing the allure of Montalcino at an altitude of 375 meters above sea level.

Sangiovese, the embodiment of the company's rich heritage, thrives throughout most of the vineyards. However, among the 80 hectares, a diverse range of grape varieties can be discovered. From the esteemed Colorino to international gems like Merlot, Syrah, and Petit Verdot, the vineyards showcase a tapestry of flavours and aromas.

The vineyards boast an average age of 20 years, with a comprehensive replanting initiative commencing in 1997. This meticulous process takes into account the multifaceted mosaic of terroirs, ensuring the expression of nuanced characteristics in every bottle. The older vineyards feature a density of approximately 2,200 plants per hectare, while the new vineyards embrace a density of about 5,200 vines per hectare. A standardized training system of spurred cordon with 6/8 buds per plant unifies the approach to viticulture.

A Tapestry of Terroirs

The soils that cradle the vines at Tenute Silvio Nardi are as captivating as the wines they produce. Clayey substrates with intercalations of sand and silt compose the majority of the soils. The terraces near Casale del Bosco, believed to have originated from fluvial and tectonic processes, exhibit shallow but refreshing skeletal soils, developed on jasper. On the other hand, in the Manachiara area, the soils evolve from silty clay and marl, adorned with calcareous interlayers and sands rich in quartz.

These well-structured soils, though shallow, rest upon gentle slopes, minimizing erosion and safeguarding the vitality of the vines. It is within this remarkable terroir that Tenute Silvio Nardi's wines draw their unique character and exceptional quality.
