Shop Corduroy

Winemaking isn't merely about crafting wine; it's about creating exceptional wine... The journey of Corduroy Wines has always been Phil's cherished endeavor. Originating in 2009 as a humble side project, Corduroy has since blossomed into a boutique, esteemed wine label crafting wines from the picturesque Adelaide Hills in South Australia.

In 1999, Phil embarked on his first vintage in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Captivated by the vigor, passion, and camaraderie inherent in cellar work, he realized winemaking was his true calling. His journey then led him to the United States, where he experienced a vintage at the esteemed family estate Domaine Drouhin in Portland, Oregon.

Returning to the Vale, Phil dedicated two years to Wirra Wirra, solidifying his path in winemaking. From 2002 to 2005, Phil combined his practical knowledge with academic rigor, earning a degree in Oenology from the University of Adelaide, SA. He then seized the coveted role of Assistant Winemaker at Thomas Wines in the Hunter Valley, NSW, further honing his skills. Overseas ventures followed, including vintages in Napa Valley at the state-of-the-art winery Vineyard 29 and in the breathtaking Rhone Valley, France, with Paul Jaboulet.

Phil imbues his dreams and artistic vision into the array of wines meticulously crafted for Corduroy. Bringing harmony, mindfulness, and profound expertise to his wines, Phil believes, "Perfecting a passion brings contentment, for passion is an ever-evolving expression of self!"

When he's not tending to grapes in the cellar, you'll find Phil enjoying precious moments with his wife and daughters, surfing the waves, kicking the footy, or indulging in his playful fantasy AFL obsession.
