Founded in 2011 by Japanese-born winemakers Yoshiaki and Kyoko Sato, Sato Wines is a boutique winery situated in the stunning region of Central Otago, New Zealand. With a deep respect for nature and a commitment to sustainable viticulture, the Satos craft exceptional natural wines that express the purity and diversity of their terroir. Their journey from Japan to New Zealand brought a unique perspective and approach to winemaking, resulting in wines that are both distinctive and harmonious.

Their Vineyards:

Sato Wines sources grapes from organic and biodynamic vineyards located in Lowburn, Bannockburn, and Pisa. These vineyards are meticulously maintained without the use of synthetic chemicals, fostering a balanced ecosystem that enhances vine health and fruit quality. The diverse soils and microclimates of these sites contribute to the complexity and depth of Sato Wines, allowing each bottle to convey a true sense of place.

Winemaking Excellence:

The Satos practice minimal intervention in the winery, allowing the grapes to naturally transform into wine with as little manipulation as possible. This approach includes wild yeast fermentation, minimal sulfur use, and avoiding fining and filtration.
