TO EMBRACE OUR PROVENCAL HERITAGE AND SHARED PASSIONS:

For millennia, Provence, especially the Rhone Valley, has been a crossroads of cultures, a place of vibrant exchange and harmonious fusion.

Perched proudly upon its rocky outcrop, the village of Gordes stands as a sentinel, bearing witness to the ever-changing tides of time while safeguarding the timeless traditions and cherished values of Provence.

At Domaine de l'Enclos, our mission is to unveil the splendor of our region to you, inviting you to immerse yourself in its beauty while nurturing and preserving its essence. We endeavor to ensure that each visit leaves you enchanted, yearning to return, secure in the knowledge that Provence remains unspoiled amidst the currents of global tourism.

A HAVEN OF TRANQUILITY IN AN ENCHANTED SETTING:

Nestled atop the village, Domaine de l'Enclos occupies a storied landscape, offering breathtaking vistas of the Luberon and the ethereal glow of sunset. This sacred ground, once tended by generations of shepherds and farmers from Gordes, bears testament to its rich history through the enduring stone walls that encircle it, lending credence to its name, as well as the charming "bories" nestled within its gardens.

Originally commissioned by illustrious industrialists for their summer retreat, the farmhouse was crafted by the renowned architect Svetchine before evolving into Gordes' premier 4-star hotel.

Transformed into a luxurious guest house in recent years, Domaine de l'Enclos extends its warm embrace to travelers from around the globe, beckoning them to savor the tranquility and authenticity it offers.

A RETURN TO ROOTS, A VISION FOR THE FUTURE:

In early 2019, Jean-Luc Ayme assumed stewardship of Domaine de l'Enclos, driven by a deep-rooted connection to his ancestral homeland.

Hailing from Vaucluse, Jean-Luc's journey took him far and wide—from Parisian classrooms to the distant corners of 52 countries, from multinational boardrooms to the helm of an automotive distribution conglomerate.

As he approached his fifties, Jean-Luc resolved to embark on a new chapter, one tethered to the legacy of his forebears who etched their mark upon this venerable region—be it as bakers in Aubignan, artisans of rabbit skins in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, or innovators in Carpentras.

A VISION FOR RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL:

The rise of mass tourism has wrought homogenization and, at times, devastation upon cherished destinations worldwide.

Yet, we maintain that this need not be the inevitable course. We espouse a vision of global engagement grounded in reverence for place, reverence for people, and reverence for tradition.

In our humble capacity, we aspire to foster the sustainable growth of our region, offering a sanctuary where travel transcends mere sightseeing to become a transformative journey of cultural exchange and mutual respect.

Our goal is simple yet profound: to facilitate better travel experiences that celebrate heritage, support local artisans, and honor our shared environment and humanity—including our dedicated staff, suppliers, and partners.
