Kilikanoon Tregea Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Harvested from premium vineyards across the Clare Valley, bunches are handled to bring out the unique characters of each block. Kilikanoon vineyards span all three valleys that make up the distinctive environment of the Clare Valley region.
Named after the original owner of the Kilikanoon Cellar Door property John Tregea, our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of fruit grown on the cooler Cellar Door site. This is complimented with fruit from the warmer vineyards at the Kilikanoon winery in Leasingham.
Fruit was hand picked and crushed to a small open top fermenter. Permitted to naturally initiate fermentation. Co fermented for 16 days on skins. Basket pressed and barrelled to French oak hogs heads from central and southern forests.
Forrest currants are underpinned by notes of cold tea, bay leaf and spiced cherry.
A deep brambly and cranberry core radiate across the palate. These developing fruit notes seamlessly give way to the unmistakeable varietal flavours of subtle tomato leaf, olive tapenade, black plums and earthy tones. The long and integrated finish transitions flawlessly to subtle savoury oak – refined, elegant and fresh.
