Hervé is, with reason, very proud of the two monovarietal Chardonnays that he has introduced to Perrier Jouët, one at each end of his career. Now in its third tirage, with 2015 the latest base year, the Blanc de Blancs fits effortlessly into the range; flowers, patisserie and gentle spice all stand out to betray pedigree of provenance, with both Avize and Cramant significant in their contribution. From the luminescent sheen all the way to the eloquent finish, a great distance has been travelled, all of it pleasurable.
