Description

Introducing our latest release, the 2023 Pinot Noir from the esteemed Moore River Vineyard, nestled within the cool climate terroir of Mount Barker, a sub-region of the renowned Great Southern in Western Australia. Crafted with precision and care, this vintage emerges as one of the finest expressions of Pinot Noir from Western Australia.

The 2023 growing season unfolded with promise, marked by a wet winter followed by a reasonably dry spring. Consistent temperatures and chilly nights during the ripening period nurtured the fruit, allowing it to develop full flavors while preserving its natural acidity, a hallmark of this wine.

Harvested on the 11th of April 2023, the fruit was meticulously processed, gently de-stemmed, and cold soaked for two days to extract optimal flavor and aroma. A portion underwent natural fermentation in new French oak barrels, while the rest fermented in small open fermenters before maturing in a combination of new and seasoned oak. After approximately seven months of aging in French oak barriques, 30% of which were new, the wine was carefully prepared for bottling.

In the glass, our 2023 Pinot Noir reveals a medium-bodied style, exuding lifted aromas of red cherries and spices, accompanied by subtle hints of forest floor that will evolve beautifully with bottle aging. On the palate, these characteristics shine through, supported by a medium palate weight and a gently textured mouthfeel, framed by soft and subtle tannins and enhanced by the Burgundian oak in the background. The wine culminates in a finish of admirable length, promising a delightful journey with every sip.

This Pinot Noir is perfectly suited to accompany game or light red meat dishes and is destined to reward those with the patience to cellar it, evolving gracefully with time. Experience the elegance and complexity of our 2023 Pinot Noir, a testament to the terroir of Mount Barker and the artistry of our winemaking team.
