Atlas 172° Watervale Riesling 2024
The vision for Atlas was pretty simple: to produce great wine from the highest-quality fruit available, not just from the Atlas estate vineyard but from vineyards with exceptional provenance in the surrounding regions. In searching out these vineyards, Adam has come to know intimately the complexity and diversity of the Clare Valley, and how the unique characteristics of different sites – geology, soil, groundwater, climate and weather, aspect, slope and more – produce fruit with unique qualities. It’s these qualities that he has sought to express through the wines he has made.
Made with fruit hand-picked from old dry-grown vines in the Watervale subregion of the Clare Valley, this single-vineyard wine has been carefully handled and is delicately expressive of its site. It is of incredible provenance and represents the pinnacle of our Riesling production in an exceptional vintage.
This wine displays delicately lifted floral and zesty lime juice and lemongrass aromas with hints of green apple and thyme.
The palate is fresh and concentrated with lemon and lime flavours with flinty and floral characters supported by a fine acid backbone that gives the wine both intensity, length and a fine mineral finish.
