Description

Bottled since 2009. Straddling a south facing hilltop comprised of Gold ridge soils, like the Vine Hill and Dutton vineyards, but the finest grained sand of any of those sites. A soil influenced Chardonnay noted by vaulted green-orchard and yellow-citrus fruit aromatics, resounding minerality and complex earthy sulphides.

Kistler is a proudly Californian effort. Our goal for nearly fifty years has been to lessen our imprint on every vineyard we work with and the wines that result.

Old world reverence applied to new world sites.

All of our Chardonnays are fermented in our subterranean barrel chais, where the native yeast and various biological patinas rule the ecology. Hand stacked french cooperage that we purchase as wood and have air dry aged in St. Romain where it is crafted into barrels three years later, houses all of the wines.

Located at the southern end of the Russian River Valley near where the river heads west to the sea.

Review
The 2022 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is a touch riper yellow but youthful color. A beguiling wine, it moves continuously on the nose with notes of fresh pineapple, yellow flowers, piney herbs, fresh flowers, and candied citrus. Medium to full-bodied and long on the palate, with great finesse and concentration as well as a long spine of acidity through the finish, it offers a wide drinking window over the coming 10 years. 11,375 bottles were produced.

Review
The 2022 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is a little shy to start off, then zooms out with energetic notes of fresh green apples, just-ripe pears, and peach skins followed by hints of allspice, candle wax, and ginger tea. The medium to full-bodied palate opens with a quiet intensity that builds on the palate, with beautifully knit acidity and a creamy texture, finishing long and chalky. This is beautiful!

Tasting Profile
palate

Vaulted and expressive aromas of newly blossomed citrus, verbena, chalk and soil driven underpinnings. Transitions to gregarious expressions redolent of ripe yellow stone fruits near the back end of the aromatics. All drive through to a broad generous palate, spined by well-proportioned natural acidity. An impressively tactile wine that finishes with great mineral tension.
