Fabien Coche 'Les Limozin' Mersault 2023
The Chardonnay vines flourish on the region’s marl and limestone soils, stretching across the legendary commune of Meursault. The Limozin parcel is located to the east of the famous Les Charmes parcel, which is classified as a Premier Cru. To preserve the nature of the terroir and produce an authentic cuvée, each parcel of Chardonnay is meticulously cultivated in accordance with the strict principles of organic viticulture. All chemical fertilisers and weedkillers are prohibited to favour a gentler, more environmentally friendly approach to viticulture. The same precision applies in the winery. The grapes are vinified in a traditional, low-intervention way.
From a superbly sited vineyard that lies just below 1er cru Genevrières and also borders on to 1er cru Les Charmes on the south side towards the Puligny-Montrachet border. Coche’s vines here are 40-45 years old and the wine shows a step up in intensity yet still with the finesse and softeness typical of Charmes.
The golden and bright colour reveals an intense nose, combining fruity aromas with notes of almond and white floral hints. The ample and opulent palate is characterised by a remarkable mineral structure culminating in a fresh and persistent finish.
