Description

We are 100 % estate winegrowers, we vinify exclusively our own harvest. We buy neither grapes, juice, nor wines (Alsatians winegrowers represent only 22% of the regional production).
Located on the dizzy heights of the hills of Guebwiller, in southern Alsace, with slopes reaching 50° and an altitude going from 250 to 390 metres, our mountain-side vineyard is surely one of the most breathtaking in Alsace.
Its excellent southwest, south, and southeast exposure ensures its perfect sun exposure.
Guebwiller is the only spot in Alsace producing 4 Grands Crus. Half of our vineyard, that is to say, 70 hectares, consists of these unique “terroirs”.
The wines of our Grands Crus portray, from year to year, the ancient memory of the stones of our land.
The Vosges sandstone, on the edge of the mountain, produces subtle nuances: plots located only a few meters from each other can produce very different wines.

Review

A beautiful Alsatian Grand Cru Riesling that shows a hint of cinnamon and spice, spread out on the top of chalky and flinty aromas, which themselves give way to guava peel and lemon zest. Quite long and powerful on the palate, which frames a tightly knit portrait of zesty apricots and apples.

Tasting Profile

Nose
The colour is lemon yellow with green reflections, of medium intensity. The disc is shiny, clear, and transparent. Wine has youth. The nose is frank, pleasant, and intense. We perceive a dominant smell of fine vegetables, white flowers, citrus, lemon zest, and lime. Aeration amplifies these odours and reveals a mineral touch of naphtha, finely smoked. Mature and complex, the fragrant profile gives pride of place to the terroir. Time will allow him to assert himself.
Palate
The attack in the mouth is moderately ample and slender. The alcohol support is balanced. We evolve in an environment with frank vivacity, marked by pearl. We find the range of aromas on the nose, always focused on citrus, clementine, lime, white flowers, spices, and ginger. We feel a slight bitterness. The finish has a good length as well as a persistent frank vivacity. The profile is pure and crystalline, precisely specified in a beautiful way by the character of the terroir. It takes time to flourish.
