Review

Comes mostly from a single vineyard in Lyndoch within the Barossa and after gentle fermentation and plunging it was matured for 17 months in mostly seasoned French oak and about 20% American. Hatcher has chosen not to use any new oak, and it seems to be a good call. The fruit has power, poise and structure. Has a grainy minerality contributing to its vibrancy and energy. A classy wine from a classy winemaker.

nose

A quintessential Barossa Shiraz with a nose of chocolate, plums, cassis, mocha, blackberries, coffee beans and cocoa powder.

palate

Hints of blueberries emerge on the palate. A generous and plush style with fine, silky if somewhat abundant tannins and a supple texture, there is excellent length.
