Mongeard-Mugneret Echézeaux Grand Cru 2009

A moderately toasty nose displays plenty of both natural and wood spice together with very ripe black cherry and cassis aromas that merge into dense, seductively textured and opulent middle-weight flavours that possess a good amount of tannin-buffering sap and fine length along with a mild hint of warmth. I very much like the overall depth and while this is certainly a child of its vintage, it avoids the heaviness that many of its brethren display.
