Description

All Longview wines are estate-grown, with red varietals thriving on sun-drenched northern slopes and white varietals flourishing in the cool southern aspects. This unique site-specific terroir delivers an extraordinary range of flavours, perfect for any wine enthusiast.

The 2025 vintage will be remembered for being one of the driest in many years. The dry conditions led to early flowering and despite the dry, crop levels were quite reasonable for the first time in many years. The vines struggled against the dry conditions and ripened the crop quickly leading to the earliest and fastest harvest in our memory. The wine quality is exceptional across all varietals and with similar vintage conditions not seen since 1967, this may well be one of the great vintages of modern times.

Nebbiolo is one of the world’s great Rosato/Rose varieties and Longview has over a 20-year history producing this wine. The famed 1-11 clone of Nebbiolo makes up most of the blend for our Rosato with fine tannins adding texture and is complemented with a small portion of Pinot Nero for perfume lift, improving line and fruit persistence. Our Nebbiolo vines, first planted in 1995, are cane pruned, shoot thinned, leaf plucked, and bunch thinned to ensure optimal ripeness for this late season varietal. Individual blocks and press cuts are fermented separately to maximise blending options with lees stirring post ferment to build complexity.

Review
One of the driest vintages on record, is proving to be a source of many excellent wines for the Adelaide Hills region. Longview have been making their Rose style from Nebbiolo for more than twenty years and it is always an exciting release. They also include a dollop of Pinot Nero in the blend (Pinot Noir, for those of you who do not speak Italian). Their Nebbiolo vines were planted more than three decades ago. The colour here is a burnt orange hue. On the nose we have an array of aromas, including orange rinds, florals, garden herbs, strawberries and spices. There is also just a hint of confection, providing an intriguing addition. Soft, generous and of medium to good length, this is fresh and delicious drinking. Enjoy it over the next year or three.
