Description

Henschke is one of Australia's great wine producers, situated in Keyneton in the Eden Valley of South Australia. The Henschke's trace their roots in Australia to the mid 19th century with the first recorded sale of Henschke wine in 1868. It's flagship wine, the 'Hill of Grace' Shiraz is sourced from a single vineyard from vines over 160 years old. The current generations of the Henschke family (5th and 6th) that tend the 109 hectares under vine in the Eden Valley, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills, use organic and biodynamic principals in their vineyards and are world leaders in sustainable wine production.

Keyneton Euphonium is a beautiful composition of shiraz from up to 50-year-old vines growing in the Eden and Barossa Valleys, blended with cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot from selected vineyards in both regions. Matured in French and American oak for 18 months prior to blending and bottling.

2019 TASTING NOTE: 52/25/12/11% shiraz/cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc/merlot grown in the Eden and Barossa valleys, matured in 80/20% French and American oak (17% new) for 18 months. Deep crimson. Blackcurrant, blood plum and blackberry fruits with hints of baking spices, vanillin, tobacco leaf, cedar, licorice and stone. Fine tannin grip with lots of detail and a sense of suppleness to its form, concentrated yet showing restraint and elegance as the wine slowly fades.

2010 TASTING NOTE: A 70/18/12% blend of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Strong crimson-purple; a richly robed and structured blend, with an array of black fruits, plum, spice and a dash of dark chocolate; the oak and tannin contributions are both important, pivotal to the texture, structure and longevity of the wine.
