Nestled on the sun-kissed southwest slopes of Montalcino, at an elevation of approximately 440m above sea level, Querce Bettina stands as a cherished family-owned and operated vineyard. Acquired in 1990 by the dynamic duo, Sandra Barenghi and Roberto Moretti, this 29-hectare estate embodies their passion for winemaking.

The 2013 vintage unfolds as a splendid chapter for Brunello, showcasing an exquisite blend of pipe tobacco, fragrant blue flowers, alluring baking spice, and a subtle hint of new leather. On the lively and medium-bodied palate, a meticulous interplay of firm, polished tannins and vibrant acidity harmonizes with the tart notes of sour cherry, delicate strawberry, and a touch of white pepper. The finish is graced by a lingering essence of star anise.

Crafted from 100% Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello), the wine undergoes a meticulous process—selected harvesting, fermentation, and vinification in steel until the completion of malolactic fermentation. Aging gracefully in 22 hl Slavonian wood casks for 30/36 months, followed by bottling and a subsequent bottle aging period of over 12 months, it is released to the world at least five years after its inception. Querce Bettina's commitment to quality and tradition is evident in every sip, making this Brunello a true testament to the artistry of Italian winemaking.

Aromas of pipe tobacco, exotic spice, leather and damp earth shape the nose. On the austere, focused palate, you'll find dried black cherry, baked plum, vanilla and licorice accompanied by close-grained tannins and bright acidity. It closes on an espresso note. Drink 2025–2035. Kerin O’Keefe
