Situated halfway between Paris and Beaune, Chablis is the golden gateway to the wines of Burgundy. The 5,500 hectare vineyard of predominantly ‘Kimmeridgian’ soil which gives the terroir its minerality, finesse, and incomparable crystalline tonality , lies on both banks of the river Serein and includes nearly Twenty villages.
Founded in 1923 under the leadership of Abbé Balitrand, a number of Chablis winemakers decided to join forces and together they created a cooperative winery in the heart of the Chablis vineyard in Burgundy. Until the mid 1950s, the members of the cooperative delivered their production to La Chablisienne, which was then responsible for creating the assemblages and for sales, however, La Chablisienne aspired to create the best representation of Chablis from their selection of iconic vineyards and create a style of its own. So it was decided that the harvest would be delivered in the form of must with a clear direction of parcel management to provide total control over the
winemaking processes and ensure the best wines possible indicative of their site and vintage.
La Chablisienne, in true pioneer spirit, has never ceased to fine tune its style through meticulous work to create wines which constantly improve with the passage of time’.
Pale gold colour, limpid and brilliant wine. Its balance promises an interesting evolution of this Petit Chablis ...
So much crisp apple fruit with notes of fresh parsley and dill. This may be no great hero, but it is a very typical Chablis that’s been lovingly made and has a very invigorating personality on the sleek palate.
