What sets the Black Cottage Pinot Noir 2020 vintage apart from other vintages is the fact that it was an exceptional year for grape growing in New Zealand. The grapes were able to reach optimal ripeness and flavour, resulting in a wine that is full of character and depth. Additionally, the winemakers at Black Cottage carefully aged the wine in French oak barrels, which has imparted a subtle complexity and depth of flavour that is sure to impress.
Light ruby-red with some depth and great transparency, lighter ruby-red with a purple hue on the rim. The nose is elegant and soft, thyme and savoury nuances melded with red cherries, black plums and roses. Medium-bodied, aromas of plums and cherries have concentration, interweave black pepper, roses, thyme bush and savoury elements. Well-proportioned fragrant aromas filled the glass; fruit has balanced ripeness and depth, intermixed savoury components added interest; supple tannin extraction leaves a silky mouthfeel. This is an elegant Pinot Noir with fragrant fruit, balanced savoury attractions and pretty features. Match with venison carpaccio and smoked duck breast over the next 3-4 years.
