The wines epitomize the distinctive regional identity of the Maipo Andes, where the creation of premium red wines takes center stage, shaped by its Mediterranean climate and the 'Piedmont' stony soils that bestow upon them unparalleled characteristics, structure, and aromatic richness. The character of their Carmenere Limited Edition, in particular, boasts a character defined by delicate hints of fresh mint and a medley of spices, harmoniously balanced by soft tannins, resulting in a wine of exceptional equilibrium.
Hailing from select, lower-yielding vineyard blocks that yield intensified fruit, blended with a touch of Cabernet and aged for 14 months in 50% new French oak barrels, this exceptional Carmenere from the Liguai estate in the Maipo-Andes subregion of the Maipo Valley, nestled at altitudes ranging from 1,450 to 1,700 feet against the Andes' foothills, unveils a vibrant medley of ripe black fruits intertwined with earthy nuances of mulberry, subtle nuttiness, and herbal notes. Its palate presence is elegantly complex, characterized by supple tannins, offering an unforgettable sensory experience.
For the Limited Carmenere, winemaker Germán Lyon selects vineyards planted between 1994 and 2009 on alluvial soils, mainly from the vineyard in the Huelquén zone in Alto Maipo. This is a wine that's both herbal and fruity in similar proportions, the body is light, with very soft tannins, accompanied by acidity that seems to cut through the sweetness of the flavors to provide a lively freshness. This carmenere would go well with baked beef empanadas.
