Henschke is a critically well-regarded wine estate based in the Eden Valley town of Keyneton, South Australia. The winery produces a range of wines from the Eden Valley and surrounding subregions, including Barossa and Adelaide Hills. Henschke is best known for its intense, full-bodied flagship wine, Hill of Grace, made from Shiraz vines up to 150 years old. It is one of the most expensive – and sought-after – wines to be made in Australia.
Founded in 1862 by Silesian immigrants, Henschke is one of the oldest wine producers in Australia and remains under the ownership of the family. Winemaker Stephen Henschke, educated at the Geisenheim Institute in Germany, and his viticulturist wife Prue are generally considered to be among the leading wine authorities in the country.
Keyneton Euphonium is a beautiful composition of shiraz from up to 50-year-old vines growing in the Eden and Barossa Valleys, blended with cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, and merlot from selected vineyards in both regions. The Barossa hills village of Keyneton, pioneered by pastoralist Joseph Keynes in 1842, was a musical and cultural focus for the community, and home to the Henschke Family Brass Band and Henschke Winery
Keyneton Euphonium is a harmonious masterpiece, skillfully blending the rich essence of Shiraz from venerable 50-year-old vines thriving in the idyllic Eden and Barossa Valleys. This symphony of flavors is further enriched with the graceful notes of Cabernet Sauvignon, the velvety tones of Merlot, and the subtle elegance of Cabernet Franc, all sourced from meticulously chosen vineyards in these historic regions.
Nestled in the embrace of the Barossa hills, the village of Keyneton, a legacy pioneered by the visionary pastoralist Joseph Keynes in 1842, resonates with a storied past of music and culture. It was here that the Henschke Family Brass Band once harmonized the spirit of the settlers, a tradition that lives on in the legacy of the Henschke winery. In Keyneton Euphonium, we encounter not just a wine, but a symphonic celebration of history, heritage, and the artistry of the vine.
